Snip, snap, snip, snap.

Ahead of his third season in the NFL, former Washington Huskies star left tackle Troy Fautanu is moving back to the position for the second time in his brief career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Following his selection with the No. 20 overall pick, the 2023 All-Pac-12 First Team honoree and Morris Trophy winner was penciled in on the blind side ahead of his rookie year; however, a dislocated kneecap limited him to one game that season.

Before the 2025 season, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the helm, coach Mike Tomlin moved Fautanu across the formation to right tackle, where he starred and was able to stay healthy, playing in 17 games during his sophomore campaign.

Now, Tomlin is out, and Mike McCarthy is in, and Fautanu is being asked to move back over to left tackle after 2023 first-round pick Broderick Jones struggled at the position. But that's no problem for the 6-foot-4, 317-pounder.

"I've spent the last few weeks just kind of going back and forth, but if they asked me to play (left tackle), I'm going to play that," Fautanu said. "With Brod and that whole situation, I don't know what's going to happen, but like I said, if they ask me to play left, I'm going to do it."

As official team activities (OTAs) have rolled on and he's taken more snaps on the left side, Fautanu has impressed McCarthy's coaching staff with his smooth transition to the position.

"Try writing left-handed if you're right-handed. It's not as easy as you think," offensive line coach James Campen said. "The fact that he is able to do that, and we're just seeing how it goes over there for right now, that is a big plus."
