When on the field, former Washington Huskies star left tackle Troy Fautanu has proven to be a sturdy presence along the offensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After he was selected with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the 2023 All-Pac-12 First Team honoree and Morris Trophy winner came into the organization with high expectations, but fell victim to some unfortunate circumstances. He suffered a dislocated kneecap early in his rookie season, which limited him to just one game, but he bounced back in a big way during the 2025 season.
After flipping over to right tackle, he was nothing short of dominant in front of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, which led the NFL Stock Exchange podcast's Trevor Sikkema to rank him as the No. 27 first-round pick in a ranking of where all prospects selected in the 2023, 2024, and 2025 drafts fall.
"I think he's a hell of a football player," Sikkema said.
"I think Troy Fautanu's a stud, I think they've asked him to play left tackle and right tackle. I think he's really good, especially getting him at 20 as (offensive tackle) six or seven in that class."
Now, under head coach Mike McCarthy, Pittsburgh has asked Fautanu to flip positions yet again and will slot him in at left tackle. If he can put together another strong campaign, the former UW star could put himself in line for a massive contract extension at the end of the year to solidify the front as the Steelers search for their quarterback of the future with the 42-year-old Rodgers back for the 2026 season.
