Former Tennessee wide receiver Chris Brazzell II was placed on injured reserve Friday in the NFL. The 6-foot-4, 198-pound rookie left Carolina's practice with an injury on Wednesday.
Darin Gantt of Panthers.com provided an update on the former Vol on Friday. Brazzell II will need season-ending surgery on his lateral collateral ligament.
"The team signed tight end Chamon Metayer on Friday," Gantt said. "He played collegiately at Cincinnati and Arizona State, and was in Steelers camp earlier this summer.
"To make room for him on the roster, they placed wide receiver Chris Brazzell II on injured reserve. Brazzell suffered a knee injury in practice on Wednesday and will need season-ending surgery on his lateral collateral ligament."
Carolina selected Brazzell II in April during the third round of the NFL draft (No. 83 overall).
He played for the Vols from 2024-25 after transferring from Tulane. In 25 games at Tennessee, Brazzell II totaled 91 receptions for 1,350 yards and 11 touchdowns.
