Former Vol to play for Memphis in NBA Salt Lake City Summer League

Memphis will open play in the Salt Lake City Summer League on Saturday at Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Grizzlies will face Oklahoma City at 3 p.m. EDT (ESPNU).

Former Tennessee basketball player Jahmai Mashack is on the Grizzlies' summer league roster.

Mashack was selected in the second round by Memphis with the final pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

The former Vol signed a two-way contract with Memphis on Nov. 16, 2025 and split time between the Grizzlies and the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G League. He began the 2025-26 season with the Hustle and averaged 7.6 points, 5.4 assists and 3.4 steals in five contests before being promoted to Memphis.

Mashack appeared in 31 games for the Grizzlies last season. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.5 blocks per game, while playing 21.7 minutes per contest. Mashack had a .395 field goal percentage, .253 three-point percentage and .543 free throw percentage.

The 6-foot-4, 202-pound guard played for the Vols from 2021-25. He appeared in 137 games, including 59 starts. Mashack was named as a 2025 Naismith Defensive Player Finalist and earned 2025 SEC All-Defensive Team honors.

He went to Tennessee from Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
