Arizona (31-24) defeated San Francisco (22-34), 3-2, Wednesday at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California.
Former Tennessee baseball player Drew Gilbert started in center field for the Giants and went 1-for-2. He scored one run in the series finale against the Diamondbacks.
San Francisco will next play on Thursday at Colorado. First pitch is slated for 8:40 p.m. EDT at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
Gilbert played at Tennessee from 2020-22 and appeared in 141 games, including 134 starts, as a batter for Tennessee. He also appeared in 11 contests as a relief pitcher and had a 2-0 record.
Gilbert recorded a .314 batting average, 22 home runs, 140 RBIs and 116 runs with the Vols.
He appeared in 58 games during his final season at Tennessee in 2022, totaling 11 home runs, 70 RBIs, 60 runs, 72 hits, 21 doubles, four triples, 33 walks and four stolen bases.
Gilbert was selected by Houston in the first round (No. 28 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
