San Diego (57-54) defeated San Francisco (47-64), 6-5, in Game 3 at Petco Park in San Diego, California. 43,766 were in attendance. The Padres lead the four-game National League series, 2-1.
Former Vol Drew Gilbert started in center field for the Giants. He went 2-for-4 and scored one run. Gilbert hit a single to left field in the third inning and singled to right field during the fourth inning.
A series finale between the Giants and Padres will be contested on Sunday at Petco Park. First pitch is slated for 4:10 p.m. EDT.
Gilbert played at Tennessee from 2020-22 and appeared in 141 games, including 134 starts, as a batter for Tennessee. He also appeared in 11 contests as a relief pitcher and had a 2-0 record.
Gilbert recorded a .314 batting average, 22 home runs, 140 RBIs and 116 runs with the Vols.
He was selected by Houston in the first round (No. 28 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
