The 2025 NFL Draft is over and the new season is beginning to shape up with minicamps upcoming for all 32 NFL teams.

After undrafted free agents signed, there are still plenty of players looking to fulfill their dream of playing professional football. Thankfully, the CFL Draft takes place the week after the NFL's.

With only nine teams in the league, there are eight total rounds, so not nearly as much as the NFL, but this year with 72 total picks, a chance for plenty of players' dreams to come true.

For the Utah Utes, they kicked off the night with the No. 1 overall selection. The Calgary Stampeders selected former Utah wide receiver Damien Alford with the No. 1 overall pick.

Standing at 6-foot-6, Alford is a big-bodied receiver and has great potential for the Stampeders in the CFL. The Montreal native spent his first four seasons with the Syracuse Orange before transferring to Utah in 2024.

He now takes his next step in his career to the CFL, hoping to prove his worth in the big leagues.

Alford is not the only Utah wide out to go professional this year, as the Utes' leading receiver Dorian Singer signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent.

With a few injuries to the Stampeders' receiving core, this is an ample opportunity for Alford to make a splash, as he begins his career in his home country.
