Texas A&M's 2026 season ended at the hands of USC in the College Station Regional, as second-year coach Michael Earley has plenty of room to grow, but he did accomplish his goal of reaching the postseason after missing the NCAA Tournament. The expectations have heightened after putting together one of the top staffs in the SEC.
The Aggies' 2026 pitching staff ended the season with an underwhelming 5.24 team ERA, including over 90 home runs allowed, while the starting pitching rotation, outside of sophomore Aiden Sims, regressed and did not show improvement outside of a handful of solid performances.
After two seasons in College Station, pitching coach Jason Kelley was dismissed, and has reportedly found his new gig ahead of the 2027 season, as D1Baseball's Kendall Rogers revealed that Kelley will join Northwestern in the same position, and will look to help improve a pitching staff that finished the 2026 season with an embarrassing 7.21 ERA.
While Kelley's time in College Station was less than stellar, it's important to note that he was highly successful during his time as LSU's pitching coach and his first season with Washington as the Huskies' head coach, leading the program to the NCAA Tournament.
New Texas A&M pitching coach Barry Enright has already made an impact in the transfer port, helping land six pitchers, and will be intrumental developing every returning/ new addition given his background as an MLB pitching coach and coordinator. Combined with recruiting ace Nolan Cain returning after two seasons with the Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M's 2026 staff is in much better shape.
