ESPN set off an NFL firestorm following major layoffs of several analysts, including former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark, who recently set the record straight on his departure from the sports media juggernaut.
There were rumors that Clark voluntarily walked off the set and “wasn’t forced” off NFL Live mid-show by ESPN, but he appeared to dismiss that idea entirely on social media.
“I wasn’t forced?” Clark wrote in response to TMZ Sports via X. “I ask, ‘Should I be done now?’ The answer was ‘Yes.’”
Yikes. It wasn't bad enough that ESPN couldn't have waited until after the broadcast, but not even letting him finish the show was rough.
In addition to Clark, ESPN also laid off former league MVP Cam Newton, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, and sports commentator Karl Ravech.
