An underrated and familiar face has returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the Week 16 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

On Wednesday, the Steelers announced the practice squad signing of RB Trey Sermon, who appeared in four games for Pittsburgh in primarily a special teams role.

Signing with Pittsburgh on a one-year deal in May, Sermon was a solid contributor throughout preseason action but was ultimately released as part of final roster cuts in August. He would subsequently sign with the practice squad, being promoted to the active roster whenever needed.

Sermon now joins running backs Max Hurleman and Lew Nichols on the practice squad, ready for their next opportunity should the Steelers elevate any of them ahead of the Week 16 matchup vs. the Lions.
