The Pittsburgh Steelers brought in quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in 2024 to try to fix the quarterback problems that had plagued the team since the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger. Despite going 4-2 as the starter, the team didn't hesitate to bench him in favor of Wilson once the veteran was healthy.

Now, after an uneventful season with the New York Jets, Fields finds himself on the move again. According to multiple reports, including ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets are sending Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Schefter said several teams were interested in trading for Fields.

When Fields signed with the Steelers, it really felt like this was a chance at a fresh start for him. Wilson's injury opened the door for him but former head coach Mike Tomlin promptly shut it when Wilson was healthy. Now Fields joins the Chiefs, where he will back up Patrick Mahomes and be part of one of the best offenses in the NFL.
