Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon has retired from the NFL. He signed with the Washington Commanders this offseason, but the team placed him on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday.
Witherspoon spent two seasons with the Steelers in 2021 and 2022. He picked off four passes in that span, including a three-interception campaign in 2021. He then joined the Los Angeles Rams, picking off five passes from 2023-25. Over the course of a nine-year career, the Colorado product picked off 13 passes in 96 games played.
This has been a busy few months in terms of former Steelers stepping away from the NFL. Another former cornerback, Levi Wallace, also retired back in July. Andrus Peat also retired earlier this month.
