Very Interesting. He was quite in demand several years ago.

Former Stanford HC David Shaw interviewed today with the Denver Broncos about their head coaching job, sources tell ESPN. Shaw spent nine years in the NFL, from 1997-2005, with the Eagles, Raiders and Ravens, and is interested in returning to the pro game.

Saw some good NFl people prognosticate that Denver may want him on Harbaughs staff and this interview, while technically for HC, was to see if reuniting them would be possible. He was Jim's OC for a very long time.
That makes sense. He also has an NFL resume before he was at Stanford. Also makes sense he could be getting a serious look as a HC candidate.

Harbaugh rebuilt the program, handed it off to Shaw, and he left with it in shambles. But I don't think that was Shaw's doing, there are a lot of other factors in play at Stanford. Nobody in the Bay Area gives a rat's ass about Stanford sports any more - the already-small crowds at home games has shrunk alarmingly in recent years. Looked like they had about 15k at the Oregon State game this year. How do you recruit into that environment?

It's in shambles because of NIL.
