Before coming to Arizona, Seth Doege helped lead Marshall to a Sun Belt Conference championship in 2024. And one of his commitments for the following season was Shane King, a 3-star prospect from Georgia.

A coaching change at Marshall resulted in King heading to Southern Miss, while Doege came to Tucson. But now they’ll get a second chance to work together.

Arizona has landed a commitment from King, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end who is the second player at that position added from the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.

King appeared in three games in 2025 for Southern Miss, including the New Orleans Bowl where he logged 30 snaps. He had his first two career receptions in that game.

Arizona’s top two tight ends, Sam Olson and Cameron Barmore, are out of eligibility, while Tyler Powell is recovering from a season-ending injury suffered in August. King joins ex-Illinois tight end Cole Rusk as UA newcomers from that position, in addition to redshirt freshman Kellan Ford and incoming freshman Henry Gabalis.
