The 2026 NBA finals got underway on Wednesday with the New York Knicks taking on the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1. Both teams are looking to end lengthy title droughts and get off on the right foot in this series.

This series features former members of the Philadelphia 76ers on both sides. The Knicks feature former Sixers draft pick Landry Shamet and he made a big impact off New York’s bench.

Shamet scored 13 points and knocked down three triples as the Knicks defeated the Spurs 105-95 on the road to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Knicks star Jalen Brunson finished with 30 points and was huge in the fourth quarter down the stretch. New York has now won 12 games in a row in these playoffs.
