Another former Carolina Panthers quarterback has called it quits.

Taylor Heinicke announced his retirement from football in an Instagram post this evening. The 33-year-old is now the second former Panthers passer to hang up the cleats over the last week—joining PJ Walker, who moved on from the game last Thursday.

The Lawrenceville, Ga. native made seven stops over his 11-year NFL career. His fourth came for the Panthers, as he joined the team as a waiver claim in the spring of 2018.

Heinicke would go on to make his first NFL start in Carolina later that season, taking the reins for a Week 16 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. That outing saw him complete 33 of his 53 throws for 274 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in a 24-10 loss.

He'd end up making 28 more starts between the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons through the 2023 campaign. His final appearance came for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024.
