A second-year defender has found himself a new stop for training camp a week after his departure from the Carolina Panthers.
As announced on Sunday morning, the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed linebacker Jared Bartlett. The 25-year-old was one of three players—along with offensive tackle Derrell Bailey and cornerback Michael Reid—who were waived by the Panthers last weekend.
Prior to entering the NFL, the Miami, Fla. native split his six-year collegiate career between West Virginia University (2019 to 2023) and the University of Cincinnati (2024). He earned second-team All-Big 12 honors for his final campaign, where he recorded 69 combined tackles (11.5 for a loss), 7.5 sacks and three passes defensed for the Bearcats.
Bartlett first signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2025. He'd also pick up stints with Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals last season before joining the Panthers on a reserve/future deal this past January.
