The Toronto Raptors had pretty good luck with one former Oregon Ducks center in the name of Chris Boucher, so the franchise decided to try their hand at another center out of Eugene.
After going undrafted in the latest NBA selection process, former Ducks center Nate Bittle has signed a 10-day contract with the only NBA franchise in Canada. Bittle will join the Raptors summer league team as well as participate in their training camp in hopes of making the team.
If he doesn't make the team, Bittle will most likely play for Toronto's G-League team, Raptors 905, which is based in Mississauga, Ontario or become a free agent.
As a Duck, Bittle battled injuries, but when the 7-footer was healthy, he was one of the most versatile centers in the country as he showed the ability to play on the inside or the outside. In his college career, Bittle averaged 10.4 points a game and 5.6 rebounds.
His best season was this past year, as he averaged nearly 17 points and seven rebounds in the 25 games he played in. Bittle also shot 46.5 percent from the field and 32 percent from the three-point line. His offensive versatility should have made him a nice commodity for NBA teams, so having the Medford, Ore. native go undrafted was a bit of a surprise.
The 2026 NBA Summer League will run from July 9 to July 19 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas.
