Several Ohio-based baseball players, including one former central Ohio high school standout, are potentially professional-bound.

In the 2026 MLB Draft, 12 players were selected directly from an Ohio-based college or high school, including Olentangy Orange High School alum Charlie Scholvin. The Minnesota Twins selected Scholvin with the 437th pick.

Scholvin, a junior last season at Toledo, earned first-team all-MAC honors after batting .360 with 12 home runs, 28 stolen bases and a .936 OPS.

Scholvin played for the Pioneers in their 2023 Division I state final loss to Cincinnati Moeller. Earlier that season, Scholvin battled injuries after sustaining a broken collarbone and a punctured lung in a collision with another Orange player.

One player in this year's draft was selected directly from an Ohio high school: Moeller pitcher Matt Ponatoski, drafted No. 542 overall by the Reds. Ponatoski is already signed to the University of Kentucky for baseball and football and has until July 27 to decide where he will play.
