Cowgirls fall in NCAA quarterfinals
Oklahoma State made an impressive run to qualify for the match play portion of the NCAA women’s golf championships, but saw its season end with a 5-0 loss to Arkansas on Tuesday at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California.
The Cowgirls, who came into the tournament ranked No. 21, lost the first three matches and trailed in the final two in the match play quarterfinals against the No. 7 Razorbacks.
OSU finished sixth in stroke play after posting the second-lowest 72-hole team total (1,155) in program history.
The Cowgirls were led by Ellie Bushnell, who took seventh place individually at 6-under-par 282, with teammate Marta Silchenko tied for eighth at 5-under 283.
They became the first Cowgirl duo to place in the top 10 at the NCAA championships since Karin Sjodin and Mallorie Underwood in 2004.
