Former Oklahoma offensive lineman Luke Baklenko is headed to Arizona State out of the transfer portal, according to On3.
Baklenko played just one season with the Sooners upon arriving from Stanford from the portal last year. He was expected to compete for a starting job at tackle, but spent most of the year on the third string, playing primarily on special teams. His biggest contribution came against FCS Illinois State in Week 1.
Baklenko is the second reserve offensive tackle to choose a school out of the portal in as many days. Second-teamer Logan Howland committed to Virginia Tech on Friday. Fellow reserves Troy Everett, Isaiah Dent, Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor have also entered the portal, leaving Oklahoma thin on the line.
Michael Fasusi and Ryan Fodje are expected to start for OU at the tackle positions next year. If healthy, the two make a good starting point, but injuries have mounted the last few seasons for the Sooners on the offensive line, certainly leaving coach Brent Venables seeking more depth via the portal.
The good news is that Oklahoma already landed a pair of offensive lineman this offseason in E'Marion Harris from Arkansas and Caleb Nitta from Western Kentucky. Harris may compete for the starting job at tackle, but is also capable of playing guard while Nitta will compete at center.
