The NCAA transfer portal will officially open on January 2 and run for two weeks. Players have already begun declaring their intentions. The latest to announce his plan to enter the transfer portal is offensive tackle Luke Baklenko.

A college football veteran, Baklenko spent one year at Oklahoma after transferring from Stanford last offseason. Baklenko came in to compete for a job at offensive tackle but was beat out by Derek Simmons, Logan Howland, Michael Fasusi, and Ryan Fodje for a role in the Sooners' offensive tackle depth chart.

He played in just five games for the Sooners offensive line, with most of his snaps coming in Week 1 against Illinois State and in the Red River Showdown, where he played 116 of his 155 snaps on the season. He played fewer than 20 snaps in his other three appearances against Temple, Kent State, and just six snaps in his final appearance of the season for the offense against South Carolina. He was primarily used on special teams throughout the year.

Baklenko will have one more year of eligibility.

As for the Sooners' offensive tackle depth, Fasusi is expected to start at right tackle, and Fodje is the lead candidate to start for Oklahoma at right tackle. He did his best work at tackle this season, while also getting some starts at guard. But tackle was where he made his strongest impression in high school, where he finished as a top 10 offensive tackle.
