Lamar Odom has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Las Vegas.

The two-time NBA champion, 46, faces misdemeanor charges of DUI, driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit, and failing to maintain travel in a street lane/improper lane change, according to Clark County, Nevada, court records reviewed by USA TODAY on Jan. 18. The alleged DUI occurred on Jan. 17.

Odom was later released on his own recognizance. The next hearing is currently scheduled for March 17.

USA TODAY reached out to the Clark County District Attorney's Office and Odom's representatives for comment.

TMZ was the first to report the news of Odom's arrest.

The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year recipient has shared his struggles with addiction, as well as a past overdose experience, in his 2019 memoir, "Darkness to Light," and the 2023 documentary "Lamar Odom: Reborn." In a 2025 episode of Hulu's "The Kardashians," Odom reconciled with his ex-wife Khloé Kardashian nearly a decade after their divorce.

The former couple, who married in 2009, left things on the "worst" terms until the televised sit-down, Kardashian said, noting: "Last time I saw you, you couldn't speak."

Odom, who was found unresponsive following a drug overdose while staying at a Nevada brothel in 2015, expressed regret about the end of their relationship. Kardashian had first filed for divorce in 2013 before refiling in 2016, nearly half a year after Odom's overdose.

After Odom was found unconscious in October 2015, he experienced "six heart attacks (and) 12 strokes," Kardashian said. Odom confessed that he continued to use drugs after the near-death experience.

"I can't even tell you if he was even thinking," he said of his past self.

But the 14-year NBA veteran has maintained that he does not recall taking drugs the night of his overdose.

"I went there. I didn't do drugs that night. I wound up with drugs in my system," Odom told TMZ in 2025. "I got there, had a drink, woke up three days later, ripping tubes out of my neck not knowing how I got there, unable to speak or walk."
