Former NFL wide receiver and Michigan State standout Andre Rison is spending the weekend behind bars after being sentenced in connection with a drunk driving case in Oakland County.
According to a report from TMZ, Rison was booked into the Oakland County Jail on Friday and is scheduled to be released on Sunday after receiving a five-day jail sentence stemming from a second-offense operating while intoxicated conviction.
Court records obtained by TMZ show the incident occurred in Troy, Michigan, in August 2025. Rison later pleaded guilty to the charge as part of the legal proceedings.
In addition to the jail sentence, Rison was ordered to serve 18 months of probation and pay more than $2,300 in fines and fees. An additional charge of open intoxication in a motor vehicle was dismissed.
Before enjoying a successful NFL career that included five Pro Bowl selections, Rison starred at Michigan State from 1985 through 1988. During his time in East Lansing, he established himself as one of the top receivers in Spartans history before becoming a first-round pick in the 1989 NFL Draft.
Rison went on to play 12 seasons in the NFL, recording more than 10,000 receiving yards and 84 touchdown receptions while suiting up for several teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts.
TMZ reported that attempts to reach Rison’s attorney for comment were unsuccessful.
