Former Michigan State football star Andre Rison spent the weekend in Oakland County jail following an August 2025 arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Rison was booked into jail shortly after 8 p.m. Friday and he was released around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to online jail records. Rison was ordered to the jail in Pontiac during a sentencing hearing Tuesday. He also was placed on probation for 18 months for the second-offense charge.
According to court records, Rison, 59, a former wide receiver who played more than a decade in the NFL and won a Super Bowl, was arrested by Troy police Aug. 23, 2025. Rison faced two charges: operating while intoxicated, to which he pleaded guilty, and open intoxicant in a motor vehicle, which was dismissed.
Rison was given a personal bond of $5,000 at his arraignment in February.
Rison still owes $2,310.48 in fines, according to court records.
Rison played at Flint Northwestern High School and went on to star at Michigan State in the 1980s, twice earning first-team all-Big Ten recognition, and leading the Spartans to a 20-17 victory over Southern Cal in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 1988. Rison had a critical catch to keep the game-winning drive alive in the fourth quarter.
