Once a forgotten second-round pick out of Duke University, former Blue Devil Trevor Keels is making a name for himself during the 2026 NBA Summer League tournament.
Keels has just 11 games of NBA experience and played in eight contests for the Miami Heat last season. Thus far in two summer league games this offseason, the former No. 42 overall selection has been dominant. In his first contest Friday against the Bucks, the Heat guard scored 14 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Then in Saturday's game, Keels followed it up with 32 points to lead all scorers on six made 3-pointers in addition to four rebounds, two assists and one steal. Considering Miami's need for long-range shooting following the acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Keels could easily earn another opportunity if he continues to perform this summer. Keels and the Heat will return to the court Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
