Ian Schieffelin is putting together an impressive start to NBA Summer League play.
The former Clemsonbasketball standout turned in his best performance yet for the Miami Heat, helping the team cruise to a 119-86 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Coming off the bench, Schieffelin finished with 16 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting night, including a 2-for-3 mark from beyond the arc. He also added four rebounds and was recognized afterward with Miami’s Player of the Game belt.
It was another encouraging step for Schieffelin, who has wasted little time making an impact since joining Miami’s Summer League roster. In his first appearance earlier this week, he scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked two shots, giving him 27 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks through his first two games.
The strong start comes as Schieffelin looks to prove he belongs at the next level after going undrafted this summer. His ability to rebound, defend multiple positions and stretch the floor has been on display during the opening week in Las Vegas, and his latest outing was his most complete offensive performance to date.
Miami has leaned on Schieffelin’s energy off the bench, and he has rewarded that confidence with efficient production. After shooting better than 57 percent from the field against Milwaukee, he has shown the versatility that helped him stand out throughout his college career.
Schieffelin spent four seasons with Clemson before using his final year of eligibility to join the Tigers’ football team as a tight end. During his basketball career, he helped Clemson reach the Elite Eight in 2024, earned second-team All-ACC honors as a senior and finished with 1,067 career points and 884 rebounds, the seventh-highest total in program history.
If Schieffelin continues producing at this level, he’ll strengthen his case for a larger opportunity as the Summer League schedule continues.
