Klubnik reportedly had one of the cleaner days of New York Jets OTAs, finishing a perfect 12-for-12 during team drills, according to Zack Blatt of The Athletic. The former Clemson starter went 4-for-4 in his first 7-on-7 period, 4-for-4 in 11-on-11 work and 4-for-4 again in his second 7-on-7 period.

Smith also had real praise for Klubnik, saying the rookie “can spin the heck out of the ball” and has been preparing as if he is going to be the starter. Smith added that Klubnik has “a bright future in this league,” which is a nice review to get from a veteran who's been with elite quarterbacks in the past.

Rookie QB Cade Klubnik went 4/4 during his 1st turn of 7-on-7, then went 4/4 in 11-on-11, & then went 4/4 AGAIN in 7-on-7❗

Klubnik's arm talent and toughness were never really the question though. Clemson fans saw plenty of throws that made it obvious why NFL teams would be intrigued. The issue was always the in-game rhythm, finding a solid look in the pocket, and the decision-making when plays got messy. A perfect OTA day does not answer all of that, because he still has a red jersey around his chest that screams, "Don't touch me."

Still, this is exactly the type of start Klubnik needed after a rough campaign. He is not expected to walk in and take the Jets job right away, but if he keeps stacking up days like this, he can make the backup quarterback competition a real conversation. For a former Clemson quarterback whose college career had plenty of highs, frustrations, and adversities, his first impression in New York is already moving in the right direction.
