Former Bucs DL says the Bucs' defense 'won't work' without Vita Vea

With everything going on with Vita Vea, many people are throwing their two cents into the ring. However, when a former player who played for the franchise speaks up, his voice carries some more weight.

Former Bucs defensive lineman Gerald McCoy spoke on NFL Network while at Bucs camp on Sunday about the state of things between Vita Vea and the franchise. Specifically, he shared that without Vea, the defense is not going to get results.

McCoy explained his thinking, saying, "I'll tell you that this Todd Bowles' defense does not work without Vita Vea in the middle. And there's not a guy that can replace him. I remember when I left, and Vita was here, he was young. He was going into his second year. Well, you needed a guy in the middle. Vita wasn't beaten yet. But they had the luxury of Ndamukong Suh being available. They don't have that luxury right now..."

Vea and the Bucs have to have a domino fall at some point. Whether it is a trade or not is beyond me, or anyone else at this point, but the words of McCoy will be ringing in fans' ears until something happens.
