For the second consecutive season, former Alabama softball ace Montana Fouts is an AUSL champion.
On Sunday afternoon, Fouts helped lead the Utah Talons to a 6-1 victory over the Chicago Bandits in Game 2 of the 2026 AUSL Championship, sweeping the three-game series. The Talons previously defeated Chicago in Game 1 on Saturday, 2-1, and with the sweep, claimed their second consecutive AUSL title in as many years.
Drawing the start in the circle during Game 2, Fouts put the finishing touches on a stellar 2026 season by throwing all seven innings with one earned run, one walk, and four strikeouts.
Fouts, the 2026 AUSL Pitcher of the Year, entered the championship series with a 7-4 overall record and 2.36 ERA for the season, doing so across 62.1 innings pitched. With nine of her 11 appearances being starts, Fouts also had a 63:10 K:BB ratio, and limited opponents to a combined .200 batting average against.
The former Alabama ace also set multiple AUSL single-season records during the 2026 campaign, which included wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched. Fouts' complete game Sunday was her eighth of the year, also a record.
