The IHSAA baseball state tournament has arrived.
NorthWood and Goshen went on runs to semi-state last season, New Prairie, Penn and South Bend Saint Joseph have all won state titles since 2010, and the future of South Bend Tribune coverage area baseball is still looking bright.
This year, in Class 4A, the Kingsmen and RedHawks are favorites once again in their respective sectional fields. Penn is ranked as the seventh-best team in 4A in the final Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) poll of the season, while Goshen received votes as well.

The RedHawks won the Northern Lakes Conference (NLC), and although the Kingsmen didn't take home a Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) crown, they're still formidable with Purdue University commit Cayden Stockbridge on the mound and six-time state champion head coach Greg Dikos calling the shots.
In Class 3A, New Prairie is ranked as the 10th-best squad in the latest IHSBCA poll and could be poised to four-peat as sectional champions if the Cougars can get past a strong Saint Joseph squad in each team's first game. The former won the NIC while the latter finished third in the conference, and the two split the season series.
Also in 3A, NorthWood may not be as tough as it was last year after losing a large senior class, but the Panthers could very well still emerge as sectional champions in a middling field. They head into the state tournament at 15-12.
In Class 2A, the Bremen Lions look destined to win their first sectional since 2023 at the defending champion Jimtown's host site. Bremen is 17-7 and beat the Jimmies twice in the regular season.
In Class 1A, Triton is ranked third in the final IHSBCA poll. The Trojans won a sectional title last season and are 23-3 entering the tourney. Could this be the year they win their first regional title since 2001?
