Folarin Balogun breaks silence on USMNT World Cup loss: 'We let you down'

It was one wild ride for Folarin Balogun's first-ever World Cup. The 25-year-old forward scored three goals for the United States, but of course, he was a the center of the red card controversy that ended up getting FIFA involved in a suspension reversal thanks, perhaps, to a phone call from Donald Trump.

Balogun took to social media on Tuesday night with a lengthy statement after the disappointing USMNT loss to Belgium, but he didn't address the red card saga. Instead, he focused on the national team falling short.

"It hurts to wait 4 years to compete at the highest level our sport has to offer," he wrote. "I want to say sorry to our fans it was not good enough when it mattered most and we let you down."

"Soccer in America will only become bigger the belief," he continued, "the talent, and the passion is continually growing and I know the best days are in front of us, the future belongs to those who never stop believing, this moment will fuel us. We will be back."

Will Folarin Balogun be back for the 2030 World Cup for the United States?​

Presumably. He was so good for the World Cup team that there's no doubt he'd be back on the squad.
