The Florida Gators have the 14th-ranked transfer class via On3 Sports and are trying to improve their position by pursuing a rival player.

On3's Pete Nakos updated his intel regarding various transfers, including former Miami Hurricanes safety Zaquan Patterson. Florida has been heavily recruiting Patterson, and Nakos stated that the Gators have made the safety a "top priority."

Patterson played in 13 games for the Hurricanes last season and accounted for 19 tackles and three pass breakups. However, he struggled to find starting minutes with Miami, only starting in one of his 13 games.

Patterson was a part of Miami's 2024 recruiting class.

"Florida is ramping up its intensity to land Zaquan Patterson, who has made visits to Gainesville and Ole Miss," Nakos said. "The Gators continue to indicate to Patterson that he is a top priority."

Patterson was a former four-star prospect in the 2024 class. He is the No. 17 safety in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings.

Florida had Patterson in Gainesville for a visit on Wednesday. He has also visited the Ole Miss Rebels, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys are trying to set up a visit with the transfer.

It was reported that the Tennessee Volunteers are also pursuing Patterson and attempted to schedule a visit over the weekend, but they were unable to.

Florida has added defensive lineman Brendan Bett (Baylor), receiver J. Michael Sturdivant (UCLA), edge rusher Kofi Asare (UMass), safety Michael Caraway Jr. (Southern Miss), quarterback Harrison Bailey (Louisville) and punter Tommy Doman (Michigan) from the portal.

The Gators' 2025 class is highlighted by five-star receiver Vernell Brown III, four-star cornerback Ben Hanks III and four-star receiver Dallas Wilson.

Florida opens the 2025 season with Long Island on Aug. 30.
