The Florida Gators women's track and field team finished second to rival Georgia at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on June 13.

UF finished as national runners-up for the fourth time in program history, collecting 43 points on the way to its eighth top-five finish since 2010.

"I think the biggest thing [about this team] is they battled all weekend," Florida head coach Mike Holloway said. "A lot of pride. A lot of passion. We talk about that a lot in this program and you saw that with the ladies. Everybody that put the uniform on battled like crazy this week and I'm so proud of every single one of them."

Alida van Daalen won the national championship for Florida in the discus with an NCAA Championship meet record throw of 216 feet, 6 inches.

"I said it to somebody the other day, she is the G.O.A.T of Florida throws and we need to recognize that," Holloway said. "I'm very proud of her. She's the G.O.A.T by far."

Gabrielle Matthews earned first-team All-American honors in the 100 meters and 200 meters for Florida, placing sixth the 100-meter dash (11.12 seconds) and fourth in the 200 meters (22.29 seconds).

Other All-American finishes for UF included Tia Wilson in the 1,500 meters (seventh, 4:15.20), Judy Chepkoech in the 5,000 meters (third, 15:14.04), Hilda Olemomoi in the 5,000 meters (sixth, 15:16.23), Asia Phillips in the triple jump (eighth, 44 feet, 6.25 inches), Pauline Bikembo in the heptathlon (ninth, 5903 points) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Quincy Penn, Sydney Sutton, Malia Campbell and Layla Haynes (3:25.73).
