Selection Sunday is less than a month away and the Florida Gators have picked up a head of steam as the regular-season schedule continues to wane. With just seven games remaining, Todd Golden's team remains among the top-seeded teams in NCAA Tournament projections.
The latest bracketology update from ESPN's Joe Lunardi remains bullish on the Orange and Blue, keeping the team at a No. 3 seed but moving them from the West Region to the South. There, Florida is matched up with the 14th-seeded Austin Peay Governors in the first round held in Tampa.
The Gators host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Tuesday night, who they destroyed in Columbia back in January by a 47-point margin.
The Michigan Wolverines seized the top of the standings in this update, ascending to the top overall seed while also holding the No. 1 seed in the Midwest. The rest of the usual suspects still follow, with the Arizona Wildcats atop the West, the Duke Blue Devils reigning over the East and the UConn Huskies the 1-seed in the South.
The Southeastern Conference once again has 10 member schools representing the league for the fifth-straight update and remains tied with the Big Ten, while the ACC and Big 12 hold eight apiece among the Power Four conferences.
Florida remains the top-seeded team in the SEC with a No. 3 seed but moved over to the South, followed by the Vanderbilt Commodores with the No. 4 seed in the Midwest, along with the Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 4, East). The Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 5, West), Tennessee Volunteers (No. 6, Midwest), Kentucky Wildcats (No. 6, West), Auburn Tigers (No. 8, South), Texas Longhorns (No. 9, East), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 10, South) and Georgia Bulldogs (No. 10, West) round out the conference representation.
Texas A&M and Georgia are among the last four byes and the Missouri Tigers are the first team out of the 68-school field.
