The end of the men's college basketball regular-season schedule is nigh for the Florida Gators, who look to put the finishing touch on an outstanding second-half against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.
After 30 games played, Todd Golden's team looks primed for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. March Madness has already infected Gainesville as the prognosticators grow more and more bullish with the Orange and Blue.
As far as bracketologies are concerned, the most prominent have Florida sitting right outside of a No. 1 seed — including the latest salvo from ESPN's Joe Lunardi, who has the Gators as a No. 2 seed in the South Region once again. There, they remain matched up with the No. 15-seeded Merrimack Warriors in the first round held in Tampa.
It is the third-straight update that UF has held the 2-seed position and just the fourth time this season; the first came in the opening bracketology of the 2025-26 campaign.
All remains the same at the top of the Big Dance invite list, with the Duke Blue Devils remaining the No. 1 overall seed in ESPN's bracketology while also holding the top spot in the East. They are joined by the Michigan Wolverines (Midwest), UConn Huskies (South) and Arizona Wildcats (West), who still reign over their regions.
The Southeastern Conference is tied with the Big Ten for the most schools in this bracketology update, with 10, while the ACC and Big 12 both have eight apiece to round out Power Four representation.
Florida remains the highest-seeded school in the SEC at No. 2 in the South, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 4, East), Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 5, Midwest), Tennessee Volunteers (No. 5, South), Vanderbilt Commodores (No. 6, Midwest), Kentucky (No. 6, East), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 8, West), Missouri Tigers (No. 10, East), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 10, South) and Texas Longhorns (No. 11, West).
The conference has three of the last four byes, with Missouri, TAMU and Texas joining the Ohio State Buckeyes in that category. The Auburn Tigers are among the first four out.
