The NFC East is experiencing something of a down year, but there are still two teams in playoff contention, and the pressure is set to increase immensely.
The season began with three legitimate potential 2025 playoff teams and numerous storylines. Thirteen weeks of the season have been completed, but the storylines will now intensify as HBO's Hard Knocks takes an inside, in-season look at this historic division. Fans will now have an up-close look at the Eagles and Cowboys' quest for a division title, while the Commanders and Giants will look to keep their quarterbacks healthy as both teams prepare for the 2026 NFL draft.
The award-winning series featured the AFC North last season. It debuted during the final six weeks of the NFL season, which included a playoff run for the division winner and any AFC North Wild Card teams.
The series debuted on Tuesday, December 2, on HBO and streams on Max. Subsequent Tuesdays will air through the end of the NFL regular season and continue into the NFL playoffs in January 2026.
With the latest trailer released, we're looking at five things to watch in Episode 3.
A get-right game against a struggling team always helps, and the Eagles are 9-5 after a 31-0 win over the Raiders last Sunday afternoon.
After reaching the NFC Championship Game last season, the 3-11 Commanders have been eliminated from playoff contention. Jayden Daniels has battled injuries all season, and with two games against the Eagles upcoming, Washington has shut down their franchise quarterback for the final three games. According to Ian Rapoport, Daniels was re-evaluated on Monday and has not yet been cleared after aggravating his elbow injury in the game against Minnesota. With Daniels expected to be medically ruled out for Saturday against the Eagles' stout pass rush, then facing a short week vs. the Cowboys on Christmas, the final decision was made today.
1 Eagles 9-5
2 Cowboys 6-7-1
3 Commanders 4-10
4 Giants 2-12
The Cowboys sit on the brink of elimination from playoff contention after J.J. McCarthy threw for two touchdowns and ran for a score, as the Minnesota Vikings defeated Dallas 34-26 on Sunday night. The Cowboys (6-7-1) have to win their final three games and hope the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles go 0-3 for Dallas to overtake Philadelphia in the NFC East. It was a second straight loss for Dallas after a three-game winning streak put them over .500 for the only time this season, capped with victories four days apart at AT&T Stadium over the Kansas City Chiefs and the Eagles.
Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts rebounded from his four-interception performance on Monday night, tossing three touchdowns with a 154.9 rating as the Eagles dominated the Raiders on Sunday. On Sunday, Hurts became the first quarterback in Eagles history with multiple games with a 150+ passer rating (154.9) and 80%+ completion percentage (80.0%) in the same season.
