Give me an effn break!!!!!!!!! What makes Boldin great is that he is the opposite of Fitz!!

The first post in this thread is proof that Larry was far from productive in every game this year.

If Anquan played more like Fitz he would have ran out of bounds instead of running over Dawan Landry for that TD in B'more. We would have never even been in that game without Q. All Fitz did that day was fumble in the red courtesy of one of the weakest strip attempts ever!!!!

I like Fitz, but the last thing on earth that we as Cardinals should want is for Q to start playing like him.

Answer me this, what do you think would have happened had Q caught that pass against Tampa where Larry ran out of bounds for no reason???

correct response: TD 81

BTW, I do not think Fitz's injuries where anywhere close to what Boldin had. The Baltimore game says all a lot about what Boldin is.

I'd still rather have Fitz's 15 games of productivity vs. 12 for Boldin if we are going to use that number.

As much as love Boldin, he reminds me of Michael Vick. He is playing out of position, playing a style of football that will prevent him from having as long of a career is Fitzgerald barring catastropic injury.

He was playing with a broken hip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fitz dives out of bounds when there is a chance of being hit. When Fitz plays hurt like that we can talk.

Or, you could go back to 2006, when he had receiving totals of less than 60 yards 6 games of 16, and totals of less than 70 yards in 10 out of 16 games. In 2006, Anquan Boldin made the Pro Bowl based on essentially 4 outstanding games, where he averaged 129.5 yards. But all of those great games ended with the Cards in the "L" column.

That same season, Larry Fitzgerald had three monster games, where he averaged 132 yards per game. Two of those games, coincindentially, I'm certain, ended in "W"s.

IMO Boldin is more of a Shannon Sharp-type TE and would be better in that role.

Vick comparison

no, Boldin is playing the right position or he would not have had so many catches in games played and in the record books so young into his career. People could only wish Vick had a similar pass completion ratio which is one of the marks of a good QB during his career which I agree shows that Vick really wasn't a great QB but a playmaker of a different mode. Boldin is a great WR and a playmaker.

TE's have had over 100 yard receptions in a year before. He could have done it too. Look at Tony Gonzalez.

Just to put the ultimate lie to the original post on this thread:

For the first 8 games of 2007, Fitzgerald averaged 6.25 receptions and 92.1 yards per game. I'm not really sure what more he would have to do to prove is worth to some people.

Fitz has the hands of Chris Carter to be sure but his run after the catch ability is worse than Rob Moore

One of the more overratted points of emphasis on this board. All this talk about YAC yet Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, 3 out of the top 5 WR's in the league last year along with Fitz all were within 1 yard per catch of YAC. Ranging from 2.96 to 3.94.

Its not an issue of Fitzgerald being a great player. He is. I think the issue is more that we have tried this 2 reciever superstar thing for 4 years and its now time to either move to a different plan or pay up.

Whisenhunt want to pound the ball but we are about to invest a trillion dollars in a wide reciever and will have to do the same next year in a different reciever.

Does not add up to me.

so you would like to see Boldin as our TE, ok. The main point I think most would consider is this, can any team really say they are willing to pay a boat load of money to two WRs when a team needs to spread its money out in other areas. Holding on to player like Dansby longterm too begs one to consider keeping either just boldin or fitz

I'll get flamed for this, and I don't care. I'd rather pay the one that will have the longer, more productive CAREER.

that is a valid point dreamcastrocks. For that reason, I would understand the Cards going with Fitz over Boldin. this team eventually will have to choose between the two.

Agreed. Add to that Boldin's hip injury and the possibility of it lingering into this season and beyond. Fitz's youth and style of play does have its appeal.

I'd still rather take Boldin for 7 years than Fitz for 12

Its a tough choice, thats for sure, as a fan. If I were a GM, I would choose the 12 productive years over 7 any day of the week.

and instead of being paid as the best reciever in all of football, he should have been paid as the 20th best reciever at best. Sure the guy ended up with great numbers (100 catches 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns) but lets not forget that 9 of those touchdowns happened in the last 8 games and only one occurred during those critical first 8 games of the season when his production was so desperately needed.

Game #1-vs. San Francisco-Inexplicably dives for a first down when he had room to get a huge chunk of yards and possibly put the game away.

Game #2-No real impact in win over Seattle.

Game #3-No impact in close loss to Baltimore. Key fumble likely costs Cards a touchdown

Game #4-No impact in win over Pittsburgh. It was an awesome defensive performance that won that game. Another key fumble that cost the team a chance at a touchdown

Game #5-As usual he plays good against St. Louis . His one great game in the first 8.

Game #6-Non existent against Carolina in a game the Cards still should have won even with Rattay at QB.

Game #7-Inexplicably steps out of bounds on a play that would have gone for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Game #8-Boldin comes back, playing with one good hip and scores 2 touchdowns to Fitzgerald's zero.

Resign him if he is willing to take a contract that will help the team. Otherwise, its time to move one. The Cards are a whopping 24-40 during Fitzgerald's tenure in Arizona. Its not like we are losing a guy who has helped take us to the promised land.

Matt Leinart was struggling early on. Look at how Steve Smith struggled in Carolina with no Jake Delhomme to get him the ball.

We are all frustrated at the Fitz contract situation. But he is still one of the top three players on this franchise IMO and apparently wants to be a Cardinal.

Yeah, but the only players they have tied up on defense are Sanders and Freeney. They let both corners walk in free agency last season, and they lose about an LB a year to free agency. They can develop lower-round picks to replace free agent departures, while keeping their offensive core together.

The Cards are working on the latter half of that equation, but you're going to have a paper-thin team unless you can solve the first part.

this thread is a joke, do we need another poll to show you guys Boldin is the crap? Fitz is awesome but he has a lot to work on and lacks the killer instinct - I will dominate everyone approach.

Correct response would be - Dragged down from behind for an extra 5 yards, getting the almighty 5 more yards of YAC compared to Fitz.

Noone was anywhere near to dragging someone down, fitz was open for 6 points.

Q>fitz. period.
