Veteran safety Jabrill Peppers arrived at Gillette Stadium as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

It's a scenario few expected considering it was only last year that Peppers was voted as a team captain. Even with the massive coaching changes in New England, the veteran defensive back looked locked in as a likely contributor in Mike Vrabel's defense.

But then the shocking news came that he had been released by the team, not long after making the initial 53-man roster. Peppers later signed a one-year deal with the Steelers, and now, he'll have a chance to face his former teammates.

The Patriots' safety position looks completely different under Vrabel with rookie Craig Woodson and veteran Jaylinn Hawkins serving as the top options. Kyle Dugger, who started at safety alongside Peppers last year, is still around in a reduced role.

This will be an opportunity for Peppers to show the Patriots made a mistake in letting him go. That decision wasn't a popular one amongst fans when it first happened, and time will ultimately tell if it was a wise move or a mistake on New England's end.
