Serena Williams returned to WTA competitive tennis on Tuesday in a HSBC Championships doubles match, partnered with Victoria Mboko.
The Williams/Mboko team took the first set in a tiebreaker against Nicole Melicar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe.

Known as one of the best servers of all time, the Serena Williams serve still has the speed and placement. One powerful one of note was 120 miles per hour.
Serena is moving well. Though Mboko has limited doubles experience, she is also hustling to extend points.

Tennis Channel is giving us a lot of Serena both on court and in commercials for the GLP-1 Ro.
The one thing even a legend like Serena cannot fully practice is timing the shots in a competitive match. There were a few incidents of footwork not quite right or racquet timing not fully buttoned up, but considering she has not played in nearly four years, they were much fewer than expected.
Nike pulled out the stops for Serena’s return. We love the pink two piece kit and pink sneakers.
Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian and her two daughters are in the packed stands cheering her on. She said that part of the fuel for the comeback was to show her daughters what hard work can do.
Whether Serena and Mboko win or lose, it really doesn’t matter. Serena’s return to professional tennis at 44 years of age with nothing to gain or accomplish in a stacked resume is great for the sport.
