And the longer we take to hire a coach and the faster other teams act, the pool of available coaches gets smaller. A drawback for always being one of the last teams to hire someone, and no doubt one of the biggest issues with the Gannon era.

I started this process wanting Klint Kubiac out of Seattle, but it's starting to feel like LeFleur is going to be the pick. If it's going to be a no head-coaching experience coordinator, he seems as up to it as any. At least he's been around some decent coaches over the last few years, and has some family pedigree on his side.

Honestly, I think it's irresponsible to not bring in Sean McDermott, but I recognize that Bidwill is unlikely to pay him market value, and Sean may simply not want to work for the Cardinals.

Go Cards!!!
My issue though with McDermott is that he got a ton of chances with a premium QB to get that team to a championship and he failed over and over.

This is kinda what you run into when you are hiring a 38 year old. McVay was kinda like that too. Coen came across as a bit of an jerk. Kubiak has a rep of being awkward. If LaFleur can come in with a plan and execute it, the rest can get figured out. Kliff's issue was, IMO, not being firmer with his QB from day 1. WE will see how LaFleur adjusts though I would expect Cousins to be brought in if he is hired. I imagine you see a lot of connection to ATL.

Maybe Grizzard as OC. Morris or someone as DC. Maybe Morris gets you to Ledford as OL or OC. My guess is that AZ will want to be the first team to hire a Rams asst so that they get first pick at some of the connected coaches.
Maybe so, but it's not confidence inducing. I just hope that MO/MB are smart enough to identify which one of these guys could be that guy.

I don't know, Campanile almost gives me Arians type vibes. That NJ tough guy type.

Too easy, LaFleur or Campanille! In the big scheme things, it really doesn’t matter. Even with Jesus Christ as HC, Bidwill will find a way to screw it up. Until the NFL decides to remove Bidwill, there is ZERO hope for Cardinal fans.
Jesus Christ looking at the Cardinals: Even I can't perform THAT big of a miracle.

Pretty sure Campanile will be the guy. he fits the profile...no great success, limited time in the NFL, was coaching High School a few weeks ago.

his only drawback is that he was with Michigan in 2019...might not sit well with our Ohio State fascination.
Bidwill sees that Ishbia is doing well with his Michigan State fascination and is halfway there.

TBH...we both know that they are probably not smart enough but it is what it is.

The HC doesn't have to be a "screamer". Neither McVey or Shanahan are but they are winners. Campanile is but he is the DC not the HC. Liam Coen is the Jag's HC. I like LaFleur and he has been in the NFL for 11 years and did call plays as Jet OC. Neither he or Saleh were successful there. If he becomes the Cards HC it will be important to see who he brings in especially the DC.

Eh I have to discount the players love him angle. Players loved Romeo Crennel. Players loved Antonio Pierce. I think if you Google the players love him angle, you literally find dozens of instances of players loving a coach who failed over and over.

The players here seemed to really like Gannon and staff too, but that's not a good reason to put a candidate on top of one another.

I think my bias is that I want an offensive coach, but there are obvious examples of defensive guys who've won big recently.
I want a tactician. Someone who can be the type of coach that dictates the other team to adjust, then we adjust to their adjustments. Not someone who "has a scheme" and is hip deep in the hole with that scheme and can't pivot.

So from just watching interviews of both, I will have to say, Campanile DOES look more like an NFL HC. LaFleur just doesn't seem like a leader, we should know from watching Kliff for years.

For me, I've wanted the Cardinals to tap into that Shanahan/McVay brain trust for years, but I don't know if LaFleur is the guy.

Yeah you can tell right away right? Not a great communicator.

He was a passing game coordinator for like 5 years, with the LeFleur surname, while his brother was doing good things, and nobody looked at him and thought he could be their OC until the Jets? And he failed there, and has spent another 3 years as a fake OC and nobody tapped him up for a play calling job?

Just flashes warning signs.
