Mike Malott earned the signature win of his career so far at UFC Fight Night 273 when he defeated former title challenger Gilbert Burns.

Malott (14-2-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) was triumphant in his first octagon headliner Saturday with a third-round TKO victory over Burns (22-10 MMA, 15-10 UFC), who has now lost five straight fights and retired afterward at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Malott scores the third round TKO over Burns

A very poised and patient performance. Mitigated risk when necessary and put his foot on the gas when he sensed an opening.

Gilbert Burns fought everyone. Never ran from a challenge.

When no one wanted to fight Khamzat, he stepped up. He was ranked No. 02 WW at that time. Didn't have to do it. But he did. And some could argue that he won that fight. pic.twitter.com/daexgWfRWd
