FIFA is shockingly revoking legitimate World Cup tickets bought after "inaccurate" pricing was displayed.
This summer's World Cup has been plagued by numerous sociopolitical controversies. Travel limitations have been put in place for certain countries, with over 2,300 British fans facing Football Banning Orders (FBOs) that will prevent them from traveling to the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Meanwhile, the Iranian soccer team has been fighting to guarantee its security, considering the ongoing tensions between the nation and the U.S. and Israel. However, ticketing and astronomical costs have dominated discussions, with FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently summoned to provide testimony before Congress.

Seats for the final are allegedly priced at nearly $33,000, and throughout the initial purchasing phase, tickets for the World Cup final were purportedly selling for four times the cost of the most premium seats at the 2022 Qatar tournament. By April, that identical ticket tier had climbed to over $9,300, as per The Mirror US.
Tickets for the tournament kickoff in America on June 12 at SoFi Stadium, the United States versus Paraguay, reveal that more than 10,000 seats remain available through official platforms, accounting for roughly a seventh of the stadium's roughly 70,000 capacity.
Ticket pricing across the entire tournament has drawn widespread condemnation, yet FIFA remains relentless in its pursuit of maximum revenue. The governing body has now gone so far as to cancel fans' legitimate tickets that were sold below the expected price point - labeling the issue a "pricing inaccuracy."
One fan shared an email received from FIFA on Thursday, which stated: "Dear Football Fan, In preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2026, we continuously monitor our ticketing systems to ensure accuracy and provide a seamless purchasing experience for all fans.

"As part of these efforts, we identified and resolved an issue with ticket pricing that affected a small number of tickets sold on FIFA.com/tickets on May 21 2026. This issue caused certain tickets to be displayed with inaccurate prices at checkout and in the completed transaction records.
"You have been identified as a customer who purchased a ticket affected by this pricing inaccuracy. In accordance with the Terms of Sale for the General Public, all ticket orders that included tickets with inaccurate prices have been canceled. You will receive a full refund for all payments made in connection with these ticket orders.
"To ensure you do not miss the opportunity to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026, we have reserved the same ticket(s) for you to purchase at the correct price. This ticket(s) will be available for purchase through your FIFA ticketing account for 7 days from the date of this message. If the purchase is not completed within this period, the reserved ticket(s) will be removed from your account."
The supporter shared the email alongside the caption: "Gianni - Please step down..."
The matches reportedly impacted by these "pricing inaccuracies" were exclusively group stage games held in Toronto.
