Friday, 9/18/03 TEMPE:

COACH MAC SAYS: Leonard Davis is resting his ankle today; it got a little sore after 2 days of practice. He'll be playing in the football game.

They'll go with the same 4 receivers they had last week. They others have got to practice before they can be effective players.

Raynoch Thompson is "nauserated". (Coach spelled it for us in case we were confused.) He don't know if it's from the concussion -- find out if he get’s un-nauserated.

Fred Wakefield – make decision about his playing on game day. 2 concussions in 2 weeks, second was unusual in that he didn’t have a helmet on his head.

Leonard Davis's having the cast off should help him. "I mean, playing the game with a Q-tip on your hand – if it was good, everyone’d be using it." His hand is fine.

INTERESTING TIDBIT: Jeff Blake had a flat tire on his way into women’s football. Called Chrissy in a panic – and ended up renting a car, because he didn’t want to be late. (Nice, to have a dependable quarterback, isn’t it?)

INTERESTING TIDBIT 2: the MOVERS (the guys who move the equipment and pads to the stadium), come on Fridays. They love holding the down markers , and do it for practice every Friday (for home games) before moving the stuff.

ANSWER FOR STOUT!

Stout asked Bryant Johnson, How different is it playing/practicing in the searing, dry heat of Arizona as compared to the hot, muggy heat of Central PA?

BRYANT JOHNSON: Here it's hot all the time; there (in Pennsylvania) (they) have spurts of being hot, then all of a sudden gets cold. It’s not too many clouds here, either, so you guys get sun on your skin all day. That’s a big difference.

I like it better here – 'cause no humidity.

This is huge. Looking for Davis and Clement to start living up to their potential.

I went by the facility today around lucn time and noticed two things.....

First it sounded like a pretty spirited practice going on...even though I was a quite a distance away.

Secondly, there was a decent line purchasing tickets at the ticket window adjacent to the lobby....I can't be sure the didn't all look like Packer fans.

No, it's more about a commitement he made to be there and did not want to renage on that.

I think it is a healthy sign that he cares that much about the organization and the team.

Very groovy! Thanks!

I pretty much agree with everything he said, except I don't think the cold spurts in between heat are as bad (but I hate heat!).

Also, as a pro ball player, he probably has access to more shade out there! :D

My gripe with AZ was that it was SO dry that my head was completely dried up, and SO hot that when I closeted myself in the apartment and blasted the AC, I was STILL sweating. Made it so I couldn't do much. Maybe I'll move to northern AZ?
