Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were fastest in two practice sessions on Friday for the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who sat out the opening session to allow reserve driver Fred Vesti to handle the Mercedes, was only 13th quickest in the second practice.
Italian Antonelli, 19, leads the standings by 45 points.
Leclerc topped first practice ahead of four-time world champion Max Verstappen in his Red Bull, but then had an issue with his car.
Leclerc set a best lap of 1 minute 19.075 seconds first up but said "something broke" on his last lap. He tried to return to the pits and mechanics had to push the car back to the garage.
Ferrari managed to fix the problem for the second session, but Lance Stroll was not so lucky as a suspension fault on his Aston Martin in first practice could not be resolved for later in the day.
Alpine's Franco Colapinto crashed out early in second practice, having sat out the first session. It caused a red flag for a time.
Hamilton went quickest in the later session, notching 1:18.729, 0.148 seconds better than his team-mate on the second run.
Teams tested various versions of innovative rear wings during the sessions. Ferrari's flip-flop wing which swivels round, earning it the nickname "Macarena" after the dance, has been working well.
Red Bull have had problems with theirs and went back to an old design last time out in Belgium. But they returned to Budapest with their own moveable rear wing. McLaren also tested their idea.
Sunday's race at the Hungaroring is the last before the mid-season break at the halfway point of the season.
Final practice and qualifying are on Saturday.
