Fowler concerns me

Has 2 seasons with 4 sacks each sandwiching one with 8 then he has a career year with 11.5 last season. Sounds like a recipe for over paying for mediocre production.

Fowler was definitely in the "bust" category based on his draft position. I think he will get massively paid, and I hope its not by us. I would take Bud Dupree over him all day long.

I doubt Dupree gets out of Pittsburgh. I just want to see solid players brought in for this defense. They don’t have to be superstars but carry a resume’ that clearly defines their capability. Solid players make other players around them better.

this defense is in need for major additions. Don’t bring guys in that are 37 years old ( Suggs) and pray for a career resurgence.

Another thing to realize is just because a guy was great with one team guarantee he’s going to be great here. You have to look at his supporting cast. Maybe that “superstar” becomes ordinary if suddenly he can be neutralized because the talent around him is less.

FAs:

3/4 DE: Jarran Reed, SEA 28 yrs old. 10 sacks in 2018, slumped in '19. $6mm per
Adam Gotsis, DEN, 28. $2mm per year. Rotational player with experience.

3/4 OLB: Kyler Fackerall, GB 29 yrs old $5mm per. Passed over in GB, but a decent complement to CJ

ILB: Jamie Collins, NE 31. $4mm per. Versatile player next to Hicks.

DB: Demarious Randall, 28. $2.5mm per. can play CB and S-- some experience

total FA spending w/o backloading, etc: $19.5mm

Draft (two choices for the first two rounds)

1a: Thomas / Wills / Wirfs OT
1b: Isiah Simmons, ILB, CLEM

2a: Terrel Lewis, OLB Ala
2b: Isiah Wilson, OT GA

Dante Fowler was injured his 1st year in Jax. He's very talented but is a strange bird and can be a head case.
