The fan who ran onto the San Antonio Spurs' court during Game 1 of the NBA Finals last night does not have a future in videography.
Video from his court-crashing went viral in the hours following the New York Knicks' win. And despite Wembanyama seemingly posing for the camera, the fan failed to capture Wemby's face. It must've been hard to account for Wembanyama's 7-foot-4 height, but it's still a big miss for a guy who risked the privilege to go to NBA games going forward for his 15 seconds of fame.
The video showed the fan preparing to run onto the court and then his mad dash to get the selfie with Wembanyama, all while he repeatedly yells, "Wemby!" Clearly it didn't work out as he expected.
Security will likely be tighter for Game 2 in San Antonio on Friday, so hopefully that dissuades any copycats.
