With the sweltering summer heat stretching across West Texas and the start of a new school year on the horizon, it’s nearly time to kick off another season of Texas high school football.
Schools throughout the Big Country and Lone Star State are beginning their fall practices in early August in preparation for the Week 1 kickoff of the 2026 Texas high school football season from Thursday, Aug. 27, through Saturday, Aug. 28.
The 2026 season will be a test of the University Interscholastic League’s new district alignments for more than 1,000 Texas high school football programs after the latest round of UIL realignment remixed district assignments statewide.
That got us thinking: What will be the Big Country’s pound-for-pound strongest district during the 2026 Texas high school football season?
