The Tampa Bay Rays made plenty of news last season, although most of it was off the field.

After Hurricane Milton blew the roof off Tropicana Field, the Rays’ regular-season home in St. Petersburg, the team was forced to play its home games in Tampa at Steinbrenner Field, spring home of the New York Yankees.

Tampa Bay finished 77-85 and missed the playoffs for the second straight season. It had qualified for the postseason the previous five seasons.

During the offseason, the team was sold by Stuart Sternberg to a group led by Patrick Zulupski for $1.7 billion.

The Rays are moving back to their home at Tropicana Field for the upcoming regular season, but Zalupski group is exploring sites for a new stadium with the Hillsborough Community College site in Tampa the current leading choice.
