And those "Big Gulp" type drinks really help on a hot day. Sometimes they are a life saver when over heating.
Ever notice the places that have the Big Gulp type of drinks also seems to have the tiny liquor bottles right by the register? Seems like they are suggesting some type of mash up there! ;)

Yeah, I still trying to figure out how these came in vogue.

I think it might have something to do with not drinking from open container laws.

Gas station food is a lot better nowadays than it was years ago.
Truth is...gas station food is an entirely different beast in the south than the rest of the country..my guess is its due to the higher percentage of rural homes.
But I know that all over Louisiana, Mississippi, Bama, Tennessee...damn near every station you come across has exceptional food options...
My first introduction to Krispy Krunchy Chicken was at a Louisiana gas station...... and I tell ya, when fresh and properly prepared.. KKC is by far the best damn fried chicken in 48 states...cant call it best ever.. but for store bought it just might be.
The joy of it, when I first came across it...you could get an absolutely monstrous fried chicken breast for $2.25... couple that with a drink deal and I would get 2 chicken breasts and a 44 ounce soda for 5 bucks... and most times, even as a really big dude, I could not even quite finish two chicken breasts, lol.

Then, they got this pizza option thats pretty damned good too... not by KKC..I forget the brand name..but lots of gas stations carry the particular brand.

the west just cant stand up to the quality of the gas station food in the south....even before you get into all the places that have grandma in the back cooking up fresh homemade buttermilk biscuits.

I was excited.. a few months after I came back to Cali,...a gas station a few miles from my house started offering KKC... it was great, but its obvious that there is not as much care put into the preparation... then a couple months later it started spreading. Now I can get KKC at a dozen places around town.
The quality of gas station food has been rapidly increasing around here the past few years..of which I am a fan, lol.

us folks in California are no longer limited to offerings of "fresh" gas station sushi, lol
